BIOGRAPHY / PHILOSOPHY

My street photography involves walking a lot and observing a lot, being respectful, curious, and eager to simply share what I experience and observe every day. - Completely self taught, i first picked up a camera around the age of sixteen thanks to a gift from my best friend.

Thirty years have passed since then, with two constants, i wear a beard and I still take photos.

I'm an analog photographer who shoots digitally, i use modern technology to photograph the old fashioned way, that is, pondering a shot, thinking about it while capturing it on the fly, even anticipating it if you like, thanks to my experience in the field.

I don't consider myself a professional but at the same time I don't consider myself an amateur or even a photographer because I'm detached from the usual and widespread obsessions of chasing that particular camera brand or the latest high performance model. I prioritize only the final act: producing photographs, taking photographs, giving greater value to the end rather than the means, which for me is totally relative.

"The purpose of photography itself is to create photographs to take them, How and with what medium is purely relative."

For over ten years in fact i've been taking photographs exclusively using smartphones because I believe it to be a wonderful and modern photographic method still to be explored. Smartphone photography in Italy is not yet seen and experienced professionally in the sense that few see it as a modern way to create polished, professional photographs for a well defined project and not just for capturing everyday moments during parties, vacations and other personal social events.

I'm a minimalist hyperrealist photographer who naturally plans every shot on the street, always subject to the fact that everything on the street is random. I believe that 90% of street photography is luck and the remaining 10% is a mix of experience, passion, perseverance and intellectual honesty, which while significantly less than the former is still a crucial factor. As someone once said "the talent of a street photographer is embracing luck."

For me, street photography means:

- first and foremost, always respecting the people you encounter along the way, their lives and their situations.

- not becoming fixated or relying on this or that specific camera, believing it's necessary for street photography because who's behind the lens still matters.

- being curious is one of those essential qualities for street photography. Wanting to learn being good naturedly nosy and Walking a lot and getting into the scene.

PROJECTS / EXHIBITIONS

My photographic projects have always centered on street photography which I've been practicing for many years. I've therefore dedicated energy, resources and dedication to narrating the street and the people who live there, through my lens, gradually realizing that I, too, am speaking about myself through my shots: that sweet melancholy that search for simple, banal gestures that can, however, tell the story of a person, their world. I believe it's a project in constant evolution because every day can be the perfect opportunity to find that shot you're looking for one that can perhaps add more meaning or complete it, making it clearer and more comprehensible to others.
